What Is Box Profile Roofing And Why Is It Used In Industry?

For industrial buildings, there are few more effective roofing materials than metal box profile roofing sheets.

Easy to install, designed with weatherproofing and galvanising in mind, highly durable, strong despite its light weight and long lasting, the box profile has increasingly become the preferred alternative to conventional corrugated metal for industrial roofing.

The “box profile” name comes from its particular corrugated appearance; rather than a series of tube-like round segments, they are instead stronger ridges, providing a more even appearance, greater protection against stress and more consistent drainage in extreme weather.

These qualities are the main reason why it is used in a wide range of industrial complexes. It is seen in warehouses, factories, agricultural sheds and even some homes as a robust alternative to shingles.

As well as this, it looks more aesthetically pleasing than many sheet roofing profiles, in part because it looks more like a conventional roof, particularly when paired with a pleasing colour such as navy, slate, olive green or anthracite.

They are easier to install than many other roofing solutions; as long as they are properly screwed in place and a suitable waterproof underlay is fitted underneath, they are highly robust and unlikely to go wrong.

This also makes the sheets easy to replace when needed, although given that they only require rudimentary maintenance and care to maintain a long lifespan of up to 25 years, this can also save you money in the long run compared to other roofs.

Thanks to its galvanised coating and inherent strength, it is highly resistant to damage from exposure to UV radiation, strong winds, heavy rainfall and even snow.

A white or lighter coloured box profile roof can even help reflect UV rays away from a building, reducing the heat of the building and saving money on heating bills in the summer.
