Glencar Construction Lands Green Logistics Deal

Warehouse specialist Glencar Construction has landed a deal to build a logistics scheme in Milton Keynes for developer Baytree, and the 10.4-acre site in Fenny Lock, close to Bletchley Park, is aiming to be one of the most sustainable logistics development in the UK.

Construction News reports that the project will begin this month, and the completed development will be available for occupation by December.

The two-building scheme will feature innovative features in its design, including onsite water attenuation measures as a part of a sustainable drainage system, which includes the harvesting of rainwater for re-use on site, and the siting of separate ancillary office pods with roof garden terraces.

The development will also provide outdoor gyms and training areas, edible vegetation and reclaimed timber seating.

Glencar Managing Director Eddie McGillycuddy explained that is the first contract awarded to the firm from Baytree, and that the company was ‘very happy’ to have been appointed to such a high-profile and innovative development.

“Some of the enhancements that will feature within the specification of this scheme are pioneering and we look forward to working closely with Baytree and the professional team and seeing the principles of the Baytree Edge ‘Innovation at work’ approach in reality,” he said.

Jonathan Fenton Jones, Baytree Operations Director added that Baytree was also delighted to be partnering with Glencar for the construction of the unique development.
