Inclusive Employer Quality Mark Launched By RICS
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is all set to launch its Inclusive Employer Quality Mark scheme next month (June), designed to help Yorkshire fabric reinforcement firms and others around the UK build a diverse workforce and give them a more competitive edge.
Employers will be asked to pledge their commitment by adopting six main principles – leadership and vision (increasing workforce diversity), recruitment (attracting under-represented groups to the industry), staff development (equal opportunities for career progression), staff retention (flexible working), staff engagement (inclusive culture) and continuous improvement (learning from industry best practice).
To coincide with the launch of its Quality Mark, the organisation is hosting its first Diversity and Inclusion conference in London on June 25th, where industry experts can share knowledge regarding how to make the most of the next generation of talent, as well as the current workforce.
“Employee needs are changing, along with their expectations and demographic make-up. The competitive war for talent has also shifted the focus to attracting and retaining talent in the industry. Only by doing so, can we deliver a sustainable future,” RICS president Louise Brooke-Smith observed.
According to the organisation, if workforce statistics don’t improve, then the country will stop building come 2019. The sector loses and welcomes some 400,000 employees each year, a significant skills gap that could threaten the viability of communities and industry in the future.
This will be under discussion at the conference in June, which will also include practical workshops, keynotes and case studies, designed to help you learn what is required to drive the industry forward with the best skills, people and culture.
