Box Profile Vs Corrugated Vs Tile Effect Roofing: What’s Best?

Trade professionals who work with roofing sheets will typically use either box profile, corrugated or tile effect. Each option has its own strengths and weaknesses, and it’s useful to have a reminder about which products are best suited for particular projects. Here’s some information to help you make the right choice.

Box profile roofing sheets

Box profile roofing sheets have angular ribs of various sizes. The sheets can be cut to custom lengths, and are typically made from galvanized steel with a polyester coating. They have a neat modern appearance and are available in a variety of colours.

They are often used for barns and agricultural buildings; industrial units and garages and workshops. The main advantages include fast and easy installation, a high load-bearing capacity; and compatibility with flashings and accessories.

Corrugated roof sheets

Corrugated sheets have a traditional waved profile and are a familiar part of agricultural and industrial landscapes. They are often used for curved or uneven surfaces because of their slight flexibility.

They are also reasonably strong but do not have the equal strength of box profile. If you need a lightweight roof with excellent water run-off and a traditional rustic appearance, this is a sound choice.

Tile effect roofing sheets

Tile effect sheets mimic the look of traditional clay or slate tiles, but are made from coated steel. They provide the appearance of a tiled roof for when the aesthetic impact is important, but you don’t want the weight, time, labour or cost of installing a traditional tiled roof.

Ultimately, the type of roofing material you need will depend on the budget, project type, and desired visual impact of the roof. If you are still not sure, please get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to help.
